BOBBY 'O' YEARS

On this page you will find eight 12" records containing early versions of three Pet Shop Boys tracks, which were recorded with New York disco producer Bobby 'O' Orlando.
Neil met Bobby 'O' in New York when he was sent by the UK pop magazine 'Smash Hits' (Neil worked for 'Smash Hits' from 1982-1985 as a journalist) to interview the group The Police. Neil and Bobby 'O' shared a cheeseburger and carrot cake at a restaurant called The Applejack on 19th August 1983 (which was two years to the day that Neil and Chris first met in London). Bobby 'O' was flattered by Neil's compliments and suggested making a record with them. The record was 'West End Girls' other tracks release were: 'One More Chance' and 'Theme For The Pet Shop Boys' ('Theme For The Pet Shop Boys' was recorded by a group called The Hurricans).
