I saw the Pet Shop Boys play live at the Manchester Apollo on Friday 12th July 2002. It was the second time that I had seen them play live and they were both in Manchester. It was an excellent performance.
I arrived at 7.00pm, which was an hour before it was supposed to start. There were long queues already, but I'm guessing that they were trying to get a good standing position. There was no support act even though it said Pet Shop Boys plus support on the ticket.
When they took to the stage at 8.45pm, the place was packed. Neil introduced them as the "New Pet Shop Boys". Obviously there was Neil and Chris on stage, plus four others, Pete Gleadall (programming), Dawne Adams (percussion), Bic Hayes and Mark Refoy (both guitars). I bought a programme (10), which was more like a book and a mug (8) as souvenirs. My favourite tracks played live that night were 'Home And Dry', 'Always On My Mind' and 'Go West'.
